Pinehurst Country Club  (Homes $150,000-$1,000,000+, Condos $60,000-$400,000)

Semi-private Country club with 8 championship golf courses including the famed #2 course (site of 1999 and 2005 US Open) and the #4 course that was redesigned by Tom Fazio after the 1999 US Open.  Full membership can play Pinehurst courses 1-6.  Membership includes golf, use of twenty-eight tennis courts (6 lighted), access to several pools, use of Lake Pinehurst facilities, the Members club and locker rooms.  Men’s and women’s golf association with weekly tournaments.  Transfer Fee (#1-6) $12,500, dues - $275/month, no restaurant minimum. www.pinehurst.com 

Pinehurst Fairwood #7 (Homes $300,000-$1,000,000+)

In addition to Pinehurst #1-6, members can join Pinehurst # 7 for an additional $10K transfer fee and a monthly dues increase of $65.  Homes and lots that have an existing  Pinehurst 1-7 membership can transfer the membership for $15,000.  Courses #8 is restricted to resort play.

Country Club of North Carolina (Homes $300,000-$1,000,000+)

Private gated community with 2 18-hole golf holes designed by Ellis Maples and Robert Trent Jones.   Golf courses sweep around the 64-acre natural Watson Lake and 1,850 acres of sandhill pines and hardwood forests.  The Carolina course has consistently been rated in the world ranking. Homeowners must be approved for CCNC membership prior to purchase.  Initiation fee – $38,000 (non-refundable), dues $395/mo, no restaurant minimum.  Social memberships $13,600 (non-refundable), $180/month dues (includes pool, tennis and use of clubhouse).  www.ccofnc.com

Mid-South  (Homes $300,000-$1,000,000+)

The Arnold Palmer investment group purchased the Plantation Country Club in the fall of 2002.  This course has consistently been rated among the finest golf courses in the Carolinas.  The greens are excellent and the course has a great layout with several lakes and rolling hills.  The Palmer group is in the process of building a clubhouse that should be completed in the summer of 2004.  Initiation fee for property owners $30,000, non-property owners $35,000.  Full membership Moore County resident $190/month, non-county resident $125/month.  

Mid Pines- Pine Needles  Home of Womens 2007 Open

Pinewild (Homes $300,000-$1,000,000+)

Private gated community (2,025 acres) with 2 18-hole golf courses designed by Gene Hamm and Gary Player.  Also includes a 9-hole par 3 course, driving range, 4 Har-Tru tennis courts and a 25-meter swimming pool.  Membership transfer fee with the purchase of a Pinewild home is $10,000.  Dues: Full Family $283/mo - Social $100/month.  New membership initiation - $20,000 (no restaurant minimum). www.pinewildcc.com

Longleaf (Homes $200,000-$450,000+, Condos 150,000+)

Residential 18-hole golf course community designed, owned and operated by Dan Maples.  No initiation fee on new homes, $3,000 transfer fee on resales, dues - $199/mo includes all green fees and use of clubhouse facilities, tennis courts, pool and exercise room, and no restaurant minimum (social membership is $126/month). http://www.longleafgolf.com/

National Golf Club (Homes $300,000-$700,000+)

Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole golf course community.   The maintenance-free Villa condominiums start at $200K and the homes range from $260-1,000,000+.  Principal membership requires a $25,000 initiation fee (refundable on home resale) and yearly dues of $3,375. Membership includes unlimited greens fees and use of the clubhouse facilities, pool and tennis facilities.  A social membership ($1,650/yr) has a transfer fee of $7,500 and includes use of pool, tennis and clubhouse facilities. www.nationalgolfclub.com

Beacon Ridge Golf & CC (Homes $300,000-$1,000,000+, Condos $120,000)

Midland/Knollwood Country Clubs (Homes $170,000-$300,000+)

Southern Pines Elks Lodge and Golf Club

Foxfire Country Club (Homes $120,000-$500,000+)
